KP INNOSERV and CyStatika Advance Sustainable Construction Through the FIERCE-Funded SEGOF Project

Integrating Earth Observation and geotechnical engineering for smarter, more resource-efficient foundation design.

KP INNOSERV is pleased to announce its collaboration with CyStatika L.L.C. on SEGOF – Sentinel-Enabled Geotechnical Optimisation for Foundations in Cyprus, a project successfully selected for funding under the First FIERCE Open Call for Financial Support.

SEGOF aims to introduce innovative, satellite-assisted approaches to geotechnical engineering, supporting more informed foundation design and environmentally sustainable construction practices.

The project explores the integration of Copernicus Sentinel-1 radar data and Sentinel-2 multispectral observations with conventional geotechnical assessments. By analysing ground deformation and moisture-related indicators, the proposed solution aims to improve the understanding of site conditions and support engineering decisions based on additional spatial and environmental information.

This approach has the potential to optimise foundation design, reduce unnecessary consumption of construction materials such as concrete and steel, and minimise the associated environmental footprint while maintaining structural safety.

As the project’s specialised external service provider, KP INNOSERV contributes expertise in Earth Observation data processing, technical feasibility assessment, geospatial analysis, proof-of-concept development, environmental impact assessment and innovation planning.

SEGOF demonstrates the potential of combining satellite technologies with engineering expertise to address real-world challenges in the construction industry. Through this collaboration, KP INNOSERV strengthens its commitment to supporting space-enabled innovation, digital transformation and sustainable infrastructure development in Cyprus.

The project is supported through the FIERCE Financial Support Programme, an initiative funded by the European Union.
