SEGOF: Sentinel-Enabled Geotechnical Optimisation for Foundations in Cyprus
-
SEGOF – Sentinel-Enabled Geotechnical Optimisation for Foundations in Cyprus – was selected for funding under the First FIERCE Open Call for Financial Support, an EU-funded programme. The project is carried out by CyStatika L.L.C. (Cyprus), with KP INNOSERV as specialised external service provider.
SEGOF introduces satellite-assisted approaches to geotechnical engineering. It integrates Copernicus Sentinel-1 radar data and Sentinel-2 multispectral observations with conventional geotechnical assessments. By analysing ground deformation and moisture-related indicators, it improves the understanding of site conditions and supports engineering decisions with additional spatial and environmental information.
This approach can optimise foundation design, reduce unnecessary use of construction materials such as concrete and steel, and minimise the associated environmental footprint while maintaining structural safety.
