STEEL-OPT: Space-Enabled Steel Scrap and Raw Material Optimisation System
-
STEEL-OPT is an innovation project selected for funding under the First FIERCE Open Call for Financial Support, an EU-funded programme for future industrial ecosystems. It is led by GL Metal Works Ltd, a Cypriot steel fabrication company.
The project integrates Copernicus satellite-derived climate and atmospheric data into industrial decision-making, to optimise raw material procurement, steel storage conditions and manufacturing operations.
By combining environmental intelligence with operational data, STEEL-OPT aims to reduce steel scrap, minimise corrosion-related material losses, improve production efficiency and lower the environmental footprint of steel fabrication.

K. P. INNOSERV LTD is the specialised external service provider of STEEL-OPT. We contribute technical feasibility assessment, proof-of-concept development, digital decision-support solutions and lifecycle environmental analysis.
The project shows how space-enabled technologies can be turned into practical tools for traditional industries, and continues our work supporting Cypriot enterprises in the green and digital transition.
