PAINTCRETE – Advanced Cement Formulations for Circular and Flow-Optimized Concrete
-
PAINTCRETE is a research and innovation project focused on transforming waste paint sludge into a valuable additive for self-compacting concrete (SCC). By leveraging the unique rheological properties of processed paint residues, the project aims to enhance concrete flowability, reduce reliance on virgin raw materials, and lower CO₂ emissions associated with cement production. Advanced testing, including XRD and TGA analyses, will be conducted to evaluate structural characteristics and optimize formulations. The outcome will be a sustainable, cost-effective concrete solution with improved performance, supporting the transition to circular construction materials.

We will provide expertise in material characterization, formulation optimisation, and circular economy integration to support the transformation of paint sludge into a functional SCC additive. This includes analysing particle size distribution, surface and mechanical properties, and compatibility with cement matrices, as well as guiding environmental compliance and sustainability assessments. Our contribution will ensure that the developed formulations achieve targeted rheological performance, structural integrity, and environmental impact reductions.
