STIMULE – Spatio-Temporally Modulated Acoustic Fields for Probing Mechanical Properties of Biological Particles
-
STIMULE develops an innovative acoustic platform that uses spatio-temporally modulated vortex beams and surface waves—generated via advanced piezoelectric metamaterials—to manipulate and analyze microscopic particles, with a focus on distinguishing cells based on stiffness. By precisely controlling acoustic angular momentum, the project enables contactless, label-free measurement of mechanical properties, offering high potential for biomedical applications such as cancer cell differentiation, diagnosis, and personalized medicine.
